Koi Shadows Quilt

This is a quilt I designed in Quilt Pro 5 for Mac.  The fabrics were designed by Joyce McAdams for Robert Kaufman, for the Oriental Traditions 8 collection.

I did the free motion quilting on my Janome 7700 Horizon.

It's a lap quilt that I made for my friend Cherie, who has a koi pond.  She had discovered the koi fabric online, and I surprised her by purchasing the fabrics and making her the quilt.

OBW Quilt top finished

This is a project I started to make last year with a group on the Quilting Board. We all used the same fabric, which is called Floral Master by Springs Creative Products Group.

This was my first one block wonder, and I enjoyed making it. It actually went very quickly.

I need to get a little bit more fabric for the backing and then I'll start quilting.

I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out, even though didn't think I'd like these colors.

I have finished the top and will shop for border fabric today.  Here is a photo of the top with auditioned borders.

Quilted Batik Couch and Chair covers

For years we had been using some poorly fitting Sure Fit slip covers on our beautiful antique couch and chair, that had been newly reupholstered.  I finally decided to replace these.

These are basically rectangles that go from the bottom back up and around to the bottom front, with smaller triangle "wings" to protect the arms.

I measured and cut each section (3 per piece of furniture), and made quilt sandwiches with flannel on the back.  I did overall meandering on all the pieces, measured and fitted again, then joined the side pieces to the main sections.  I then added matching binding all around the perimeter, machine stitching it to the front, with a decorative stitch.

I used a spiral upholstery pin here in there to keep them in place, especially where the arms curve under.

Everyone is happy and the dogs love them!

Quilting Board 2011 Houses BOM ("Gimme Shelter") finished!

I finished the 12 blocks with the Quilting Board group, replacing a few with others I had chosen from various books and websites.  I then decided the quilt needed to be larger than what the twelve 12" blocks would yield.   I made "sashing" from other paper pieced blocks, to arrive at 90" x 90".

I showed it last week at the Sierra Quilt Guild Show in Sonora.

Quilting: Joyful Village

I pieced this top last year, but got going on the quilting in high gear when I decided to go to France in May, and wanted to hand deliver this quilt to Vicky in Paris.

Quilting: Joyful Village, a set on Flickr.

These are the photos from my Flickr Set of the Joyful Village quilt. It shows lots of close ups of the quilting.

I used many of Leah's designs in this quilt, which I made for my childhood friend Vicky, who loves Caribbean and African art.

Back on the Farm Appliqué Quilt

This is from a Ryan McKenna pattern.  I made it as a thank you gift for my friend Warene.  It was my first raw edge project and I did most of the assembly while taking care of my Mom in France last sumer.  I did the FMQ on my Janome Horizon 7700.

Here it is hanging in Warene's living room.  She really likes it.

Bow Tuck Purse

This was fun to make!  My friend Cherie made me some dog bone beads to use for buttons and tassel ends but I haven't put them on yet.

Quilted iPad Case

I made this on the morning of my departure for Paris in April.  That is how easy it was!  I measured, made a long rectangular quilted sandwich, and quilted in FMQ with Paisley.

Then I folded it over, stitched the sides and bound the edges, just like a quilt.

Voila!
