Hi Danielle, all 49 of these blocks are from the Carol Doak's 50 Fabulous Paper Pieced Stars. The book comes with a CD of PDFs and is available on Amazon, or on at CarolDoak.com in her online store. You can also get a CD or instant download from QuiltPro.com, in the Foundation Factory format. This allows you to print in any size, but the book has detailed cutting charts which I find very helpful. I used both the book and FF.
I made my blocks scrappy, but you can also get a beautiful result using a smaller number of coordinated fabrics and/or the same background for all the stars.
Lastly, the specific star you mentioned is the "Alaska" Star. It is available for free at http://www.quiltersnewsletter.com/webextras/feature152.pdf. Lucky you!!!
These blocks are all so interesting. I love the middle bottom one! could you lead me to a pattern for that one?
